CUMBRIAN Dean Henderson will represent England at Euro 2024 as Jarrad Branthwaite and James Trafford are left at home by boss Gareth Southgate.

The Carlisle United academy product features in Southgate's 26-man squad which will travel to Germany for the tournament which begins on Friday, June 16. 

Whitehaven-born Henderson has been included after enjoying a resurgence between the stick at Crystal Palace, who under new boss Oliver Glasner, caught the eye towards the end of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign. 

The final 26-man squad also includes former Carlisle United loanee and Everton number one Jordan Pickford.

However, Wigton-born Branthwaite's exclusion comes less than a week after he was handed his senior English debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina at St. James' Park and after an impressive campaign at Sean Dyche's Everton. 

Another Cumbrian who failed to make the cut for Southgate's final European is Greysouthen-born James Trafford who was a surprise inclusion in England's initial 33-man provisional squad. 

Trafford spent the 2023/24 campaign in between the posts for Vincent Kompany's Burnley after making the jump from League One Bolton Wanderers last summer. 

The two Cumbrians make up a group of seven players cut by Gareth Southgate, including Manchester United's Harry Maguire, who missed the tournament due to a calf injury, Manchester City's Jack Grealish, Tottenham Hotspur's James Maddison and Liverpool's Curtis Jones and Jarrell Quansah.

Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, and Jordan Henderson will miss out on Euro 2024 following their exclusion from England's provisional squad.

Aside from those big-name absences, Southgate's squad includes young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton who have both impressed at Manchester United and Crystal Palace respectively and newly crowned UEFA Champions League winner Jude Bellingham.
