FORMER Carlisle United youngster Sam Fishburn has joined Scunthorpe United.

The 20-year-old forward has completed a move to Glanford Park following his release from Fleetwood Town at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Fishburn initially came through United's youth side and made his first-team debut at 17.

He went on to earn a professional contract and totted up 15 first-team appearances, including three League Two starts under Keith Millen.

Fishburn's time with the Cumbrians also included loan moves to Lancaster City, Blyth Spartans, and Morpeth Town, before he was released by Paul Simpson after United's promotion last year.

During his time at Fleetwood Town, Fishburn also spent time on loan at York City and enjoyed productive spells in The Cod Army's development squad.

Announcing the signing of the former Carlisle United forward on their website, Scunthorpe United said: "Aged 20, Fishburn already has experience at the surrounding levels, and has proven himself to be a prolific scorer throughout loan spells with Lancaster City and Morpeth Town.

"The majority of Fishburn’s 14 goals in 54 first-team appearances have come in the Northern Premier League, however, the Gateshead-born striker will be hoping to replicate that form with the Iron in the upcoming 2024-25 Vanarama National League North campaign."
