SAINT Lucian defender Terell Thomas has said that he is 'very excited' to have signed a two-year deal at Carlisle United.

The 28-year-old arrives at Brunton Park following his departure from League One side Charlton Atheltic where he made 40 league appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.

Last season, Thomas also made 12 international appearances for Saint Lucia.

After signing for the Blues, Thomas expressed his delight and put on record his motivation to help Paul Simpson's side get promoted back to the third tier at the first attempt.

Speaking to the club's media team, he said: "I'm very excited.

"I'm really excited to get going and hopefully get the club back to League One.

"I'm extremely motivated, that is my number one target and that is the only target that I see.

"I think we can't fall short of that and that is the reason I have come here, to gain promotion and here for a number of years."

Thomas also discussed the conversations he had with the Piatak family that made him sign for Carlisle United, with a focus on the club's family-orientated atmosphere.

He said: "All positive, very positive.

"Most of the talks were over the phone or Zoom and I had a really good chat with the new owners which really opened my eyes to what they want to do with the club.

"Outside of the football, it gave me a good feeling about the club.

"I have played at non-league clubs like Woking and I really like that family feeling and just being here for one day I have felt that warmth from the staff and the unity and that is something that I really like and enjoy.

Speaking directly to Carlisle United supporters, Terell asserted that there is a lot of excitement building around the club as the 2024/25 campaign approaches.

He said: "There are lots to be excited if you are a fan of Carlisle.

"It is exciting to think about what can happen next season or over the next three or four seasons.

"Can we kick on and be a driving force in the football league and it is really exciting."
