A PAIR of Cumbrian brothers have maintained their strong start to the British Sidecar Championship with another double victory.
Jack and Sam Laidlow from Dufton, near Appleby, have been taking the British Sidecar Championship by storm in their first year and maintained their excellent start to the season with two victories at Knockhill between Friday, June 14, and Sunday, June 16
The racing sees two racers operate a Formula One Sidecar which sports a purpose-built chassis and motorcycle engine.
The pair face stiff competition at the Dunfermline-based racetrack from local favourite and former British Champion Steven Kershaw, however, fought off the competition to record their third and fourth victories of the season.
The Cumbrians also expertly navigated the stormy Scottish conditions which forced the first race to be cut short.
This followed two victories in their debut race at Pembrey in South Wales and a pair of solid fourth-place finishes at Donington Park.
Jack and Sam currently sit top of the overall Riders Championship standings after three rounds on 140.5 points and top of the F1 Cup class on 162.5 points after an unbeaten start.
After their latest success, Jack was on hand to discuss the pair's dream start to the campaign.
He said: "We are still pinching ourselves about the Race at Knockhill.
"To qualify pole followed by two first-place finishes is something we never dreamt would happen in our first year.
"We knew it was going to be a tough race as we were up against a former British champion - a Scottish racer with many years of racing experience and Knockhill is his home track.
"We were determined to do well as a lot of our supporters had traveled to see us.
"It was great to give them something to smile about in the rain."
Jack and Sam will next be in action when the British Sidecar Championship goes to Snetterton in Norwich between Friday, July 5 and Sunday, July 7.
