Cumbrian keeper Dean Henderson says he's saving 700 shots a week to play his part in England's Euro 2024 campaign.

The Whitehaven star is one of the understudies to Three Lions No1 Jordan Pickford at the tournament in Germany.

And Henderson, along with Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the best preparation as England build up to Saturday's quarter-final against Switzerland.

"With the training we do, the sessions Marge [coach Martyn Margetson] is putting on, I would be surprised if another country's goalkeepers are working to that level, day in, day out," said Henderson, speaking on the Lions' Den.

"It's 700 saves a week, to try and prepare for every outcome.

"That's why [Pickford] has been so good and has performed as well as he has for England for years."

Henderson has been a substitute in England's four games so far and will have a similar role at Saturday's last-eight clash in Dusseldorf.

The Crystal Palace goalkeeper, who started in Carlisle United's academy before joining Manchester United in his teens, also reflected on England's dramatic late fightback in their second-round victory over Slovakia.

"We never give up," the 27-year-old said, referring to Jude Bellingham's injury-time overhead-kick equaliser which was followed by Harry Kane's extra-time winner.

"Just to get that stroke of luck that we did...it was a great finish, after a great flick-on by Marc [Guehi].

"Hopefully with that never-say-die attitude, we can take that momentum into the next game.

"Hopefully we can build on that and kick on."

England are without defender Guehi to suspension for their encounter with the Swiss, which kicks off at 5pm UK time on Saturday.

Some reports have suggested manager Gareth Southgate is considering a switch to a three-man defence in the absence of Henderson's Palace team-mate.

Ezri Konsa and Lewis Dunk would be the main candidates should Southgate opt to bring in a replacement centre-back.
