Carlisle United defender Jack Armer has today completed a move to Burton Albion.
The Blues have confirmed the left-sided defender's departure for an undisclosed fee.
Armer, 23, leaves the Cumbrians after four years at Brunton Park.
He steps up to League One with the Brewers ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Blues boss Paul Simpson confirmed on Friday that United had received an offer for Armer and that the player had expressed a keenness to pursue the move.
The deal has now been sealed as Armer heads to the Pirelli Stadium.
Earlier today, United owner Tom Piatak told the News & Star that any deal for Armer would have to suit all parties and be on Carlisle's terms.
He said the club were under "significantly" less pressure than before to sell players.
Simpson has already said that he would not be seeking a replacement for Armer, having already brought in Cameron Harper this summer for the left wing-back position, and with Jack Robinson, Taylor Charters and Aran Fitzpatrick offering other options for the role.
United's priorities are in other positions, such as right wing-back and attack.
Simpson, speaking on the club website about Armer's departure, today added: “We’ve strengthened the left side of the defence by bringing Cameron Harper in, and I want a group of players who are totally committed to this football club.
“It wasn’t part of our plans to sell Jack, but with the options we have in his position, when we got offers from Burton it was something we listened to.
“After a few days of negotiations, we got to a point where it was a good deal for the football club and also something Jack wanted to explore, so we allowed it to happen.
“Jack was a mainstay during our promotion season [in 2022/23], and he was part of the plans going forward, but we’re now in the process of changing the whole look of the squad.
“We all thank him for his efforts during his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.”
Armer, who joined under Chris Beech in the summer of 2020 after leaving Preston North End, made 172 appearances for Carlisle, scoring five goals.
