Former Carlisle United striker Ryan Loft has earned another League One move.

The big frontman has linked up with Cambridge United on a three-year deal.

The Abbey Stadium club have paid an undisclosed fee to sign 26-year-old Loft from relegated Port Vale.

It is the latest move in the career of the ex-Blues loanee, who had earlier spells with Bristol Rovers and Scunthorpe United.

He joins Garry Monk's Cambridge ahead of the new 2024/25 League One campaign.

“I am over the moon,” Loft said of his move, speaking on Cambridge's website.

"I had some great chats with the manager where he outlined his plans for myself and for the team, which made it an easy decision to join in the end.

“The club has shown a lot of faith in me and I am motivated to pay them back with good performances on the pitch.”

Manager Monk described Loft - who was with United in the 2019/20 season - as "a very talented player who has all the right attributes to be a successful striker in this league.

"He also has a fantastic attitude, and we believe that we can help get the best out of his talents and that he can enjoy a really successful time with us," added Monk.

Loft joined Carlisle on loan from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 under Steven Pressley.

He went on to make 32 appearances and scored six goals for the Blues.
