A pair of Cumbrian brothers have said that they are 'chuffed' after they maintained their strong start to the British Sidecar Championship with a podium finish at Snetterton.
Jack and Sam Laidlow from Dufton, near Appleby, have been taking the British Sidecar Championship by storm in their first year, with the pair currently topping the Overall Riders Championship and F1 Cup standings following the conclusion of the fourth round in Snetterton between Friday, July 5 and Sunday, July 7.
The racing sees two racers operate a Formula One Sidecar which sports a purpose-built chassis and motorcycle engine.
The pair claimed two third-place podium finishes at the Norwich-based circuit, building on their excellent start to the season which includes two victories at Knockhill and Pembrey and two fourth-place finishes at Donington Park
Following their podiums at Snetterton, Jack was on hand to express his delight at the results for the duo.
He said: "We had a great weekend at Snetterton and we are really chuffed with the result.
"Snetterton is such a fast track so we really hadn’t expected to do so well and to still be leading is an extra bonus.
"We qualified third and kept that position all weekend but steadily increased our personal best speeds."
Jack and Sam will next be in action in the British Sidecar Championship at Cadwell Park on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, with the Cumbrian duo excited to race on one of their favourite British tracks.
Sam said: "We’re chuffed to be leading the British Championship going into this round.
"Both me and Jack would always watch the long bikes go around in awe at Cadwell growing up. Let’s see what we can do."
