A former Carlisle United deadline-day signing has joined one of the National League's new boys.

Mitch Roberts, who played for the Blues in the 2021/22 campaign, has linked up with newly-promoted Boston United.

The former Birmingham City defender has been unveiled by the Pilgrims as they prepare for life back in the fifth tier.

Left-sided Roberts was with Oxford City last season having left Birmingham permanently.

That followed a number of loan moves, with the 23-year-old also having played for Harrogate Town, Oldham Athletic and Solihull Moors as well as United.

He is Ian Culverhouse's eighth signing of the summer at Boston, who won promotion from National League North in May after defeating Brackley Town in the play-off final.

Roberts was one of a glut of signings on January deadline day in 2022 when Keith Millen was United's manager.

He went on to play six times for the Blues under Millen and his successor Paul Simpson as United battled to survival in League Two.

His fellow arrivals in the frantic late stages of the deadline day included Tobi Sho-Silva, Owen Windsor, Kristian Dennis and Jamie Devitt.
