Former Carlisle United captain Paul Huntington has been training with the Professional Footballers' Association as he targets a return to action.
The experienced Cumbrian has been working at the PFA's pre-season training camp this summer.
Huntington has joined other free agents in making use of the players' union facilities in Leicester.
It comes as the 36-year-old aims to prolong his career with another club following his release from Brunton Park at the end of last season.
"Getting fitter each week," wrote Huntington in his latest Instagram post charting his summer's work.
Other players who have trained at the pre-season camp include Huntington's former United team-mate Sean Maguire.
Former Shrewsbury Town and Millwall forward Aidan O'Brien, ex-Chelsea and Exeter City goalkeeper Jamal Blackman and former Newcastle United frontman Dwight Gayle have also spent time at the PFA facility.
Ex-Carlisle striker Offrande Zanzala also spent some time on the four-week camp before securing a move to AFC Fylde, as did goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith ahead of his move to West Bromwich Albion, while striker Omar Bogle was also involved before signing for Crewe Alexandra. New Hartlepool United signing Greg Sloggett is another player to benefit from the pre-season event.
The PFA camp is designed to help players with their fitness and preparation to put them in top condition to join new clubs.
Carlisle-born Huntington, speaking to the News & Star shortly after his departure from the Blues, stressed that he was keen to continue playing.
"I still feel as though I've got something to give and I still want to achieve, whether that's promotion out of League Two or staying up in League One, or a different challenge in Scotland," said the man who captained United to play-off success in 2023.
Huntington, the former Newcastle United, Yeovil Town and Preston North End centre-back, made 65 appearances for his home-city club, after joining early in the 2022/23 campaign.
