Carlisle United fans gave us their views on social media platform X after the 2-1 pre-season defeat at Rochdale. Here's a selection of their comments:

I am mindful that was a PSF, but that was very poor  & there is clearly a lot of work still to be done, we seemed completely devoid of any attacking purpose & the lack of pace and creativity is a major concern, it is very evident we still have some very important recruitment to be completed, hopefully none of the injuries are serious & fair play to Rochdale they were very bright and were good value for their win (@MarkWard18)

I said don't worry, about a thing, because every little thing, is gunna be alright. I'll judge them when the season starts, Butterworth has to start in the 10 behind Wyke and Armstrong v Gillingham. Can see him being a key player (@JoshYoungFarmer)

It’s a friendly so result not important but injuries to new players a concern, shipping goals , seem to be lacking pace and creativity. Think Simmo has said potentially three more in and PL loans can be a difference maker. (@andrewhoddie)

Passing was poor from the start, lacked pace and lacked identity. I'm not sure what the plan is. Injuries are a worry (@DJRobBulman)

It is just pre-season, however the whole point of the games is playing a certain way and getting bedded in. One of our biggest issues last season was playing long ball football and not creating anything. That seems to be what’s going on again. (@CameronEllis_)

No discernible patten of play, other then keep it tight at the back (which we ultimately failed to do) , lacking any creativity, wing backs did not go past their man once, and generally lacking any pace throughout the whole team. Pre season or not, very poor (@Glass942)

It's a worry that we have carried on with the same tactics as last season. Too slow to get the ball forward, defensive mistakes, little creativity, strikers fighting for scraps, wingbacks struggled, midfield was lacking. Too many poor passes and injuries to 3 players. (@cumbrianbluess)

Concerning! Difficult to fathom why we have no creative midfielder(s) at this stage of proceedings. All our strikers are 'in the box' players. Who/how is going to provide the service? (@Andythehood)

Defensively decent, attack wise one paced. Crap in sum. (@epouvantail)

Played very much like we did last season with the same result (@havenmarra)

It’s a pre season friendly nothing else to be said tbh. (@Nick_Brown86)

Still missing pace and creativity, have been for some time. (@Halpinforpope)

Different players, same formation and tactics, same result. Maybe it wasn't the players (@McCarlisle1)

Felt a little same old and yes it was poor, but we were very bright at St Mirren, so hoping we got a bad one out the way in psf. I do actually see promise and if it’s another front man & either a pacey winger or attack minded creative midfielder to come in we’ll be good imho (@IanWsanderson)

Poor game. Decent day out (@CU04_YOUTUBE)

We have to break the transfer fee for that creative midfielder who will make us tick. (@carlisl9125)

Very disappointed with the performance, Not good enough against conference side (@simon413entwis1)

Decided to go on a speed boat on the Bosphorus instead of streaming it. Think I made the right choice 🇹🇷😅 (@NottsNomas)
