Former Carlisle United striker Mark Beck has made a move to National League side Gateshead.

The big frontman was with the north east club for Tuesday's friendly against the Blues.

And now he has signed a loan deal with Rob Elliot's side ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Beck was made available by Solihull Moors at the end of last season.

The 30-year-old Wearsider now links up with the Heed in a half-season loan move which lasts until early January.

Beck was a trialist for Gateshead at their 2-0 victory against Carlisle on Tuesday although he did not feature in the game.

His loan is the latest move in the career of the former Brunton Park youth team product.

Beck, after impressing for Eric Kinder's Blues youth side, earned a professional deal and scored ten first-team goals in 77 appearances.

He had loans at Falkirk, Yeovil Town and Wrexham during his time with the Blues, and then had a successful spell at Darlington before joining Harrogate Town.

After five years with the Sulphurites, which included a loan spell at York City, he returned to Darlington and his form in 2022/23 earned him a move to Solihull Moors in January last year.

He scored twice at Wembley in last season's FA Trophy defeat to Gateshead.

Beck, speaking to Gateshead's official channels about his move, said: "It's been quite a long, complicated process but we've finally got something sorted and I'm really pleased to get through the door.

"The amount of crosses and possession we have in the final third really attracted me."
