Merseyside official Matt Corlett has been given the task of refereeing the Cumbrian 'derby' between Carlisle United and Barrow.

Corlett will be the man in the middle at Brunton Park on Saturday.

It will be his first game at Brunton Park.

Corlett, from Crosby, has refereed United once before, in last season's Carabao Cup first round tie at Harrogate Town.

He awarded the Blues a penalty that evening when Taylor Charters was fouled by home keeper Mark Oxley, only for Ryan Edmondson to miss the spot-kick as Carlisle lost 1-0.

No cards were issued to either side.

He last encountered Barrow in their 2-0 home defeat to Blackpool in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last September, Corlett showing two yellow cards.

This is his second season as an EFL referee, Corlett taking charge of 15 League Two games and six League One fixtures in 2023/24.

Corlett's assistants at Brunton Park on Saturday will be Paul Newhouse and Graeme Fyvie, with Ross Joyce the fourth official.
