Barrow manager Stephen Clemence felt his side came out on the wrong side of two key decisions in their defeat to Carlisle United.
Clemence felt there was a case for a foul in the build-up to United’s opener.
He also suggested Andy Dallas was onside for the injury-time goal that was disallowed.
Clemence suffered his first defeat as Barrow boss in the 1-0 reverse at Brunton Park.
“When you come out the wrong side of a derby defeat, it hurts,” he said to his club’s official channels.
“I felt we were well in the game. The game had two big moments in it, where we could possibly have a free-kick, the referee doesn’t give it and they go through and score.
“And at the end, we score an equaliser, and we believe it’s an equaliser, and it’s given offside, and when I’ve looked back, Andy Dallas is onside.
“Sometimes those decisions go for you and sometimes they go against you. You have to take those on the chin.
“If I was going to be critical of anything, we haven’t created enough – that’s the only disappointment.”
United boss Paul Simpson felt the decision to disallow the Barrow goal was correct and that Theo Vassell, rather than Dallas, had been the played offside.
Clemence, meanwhile, felt it was not an open game, with neither side creating a great deal.
“I’ve been involved in a lot of derby games and they’re generally very tight affairs,” he said.
“I don’t think they [Carlisle] had many chances and nor did we.
“A lot of players in these games, sometimes rather than going for the win are scared of getting beat.
“I’m not saying that was us but it felt like a very tight game, the ball was bouncing about in the middle of the pitch, and there wasn’t much control from either team.
“It didn’t click for us but we dust ourselves off and get ready for the next game.”
Clemence also paid tribute to Barrow’s 885 fans in the 9,813 crowd who saw their side’s wait go on for a first league win over Carlisle since 1960.
“The fans were fantastic, they really added to the atmosphere,” he said.
“We could feel the hostile environment around me in the dugout area but I could really hear the support from our supporters all game, and thank you for getting up early this morning and travelling up to support us, and we’re really sorry we couldn’t get the result we all wanted.
“We haven’t got the local bragging rights, we’ll have to wait a few months to play [Carlisle] again and hopefully we’ll get them next time.”
