Tranmere Rovers have bolstered their squad ahead of their trip to Carlisle United.

The Wirral club have made a transfer deadline day move for Swindon Town midfielder Saidou Khan.

The 28-year-old has moved between the League Two clubs on a season-long loan.

Gambia-born Khan adds to manager Nigel Adkins' options as they prepare to take on the Blues at Brunton Park on Saturday.

“We are pleased to add the influential midfield player Saidou Khan to our close squad of hard-working players," Adkins told the Tranmere website.

"From a squad point of view, Sads is a player we've admired from afar for a while.

"It's another experienced, influential player that can play in a couple of positions.

"We've got a small group, and a few injuries as well, so him coming in adds a good player at this level.

"He has aspirations of playing international football as well and hopefully he settles quickly."

And Khan added: "It just feels like you’re in a family club [at Tranmere] and that’s what it’s about.

“I want to be in an environment where I feel like I can develop as a player and as a person and I think it’s the right place to do that.”

Khan started in non-league with clubs such as Tooting & Mitcham United, Dulwich Hamlet, Kingstonian, Chipstead and Maidstone United, before impressing for Chesterfield in 2021/22.

That earned the midfielder a move to Swindon Town, where he has made 70 appearances and scored two goals since 2022.
