FORMER Carlisle United loanee Brad Young has completed a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Orobah in a Welsh transfer record deal.

The 21-year-old striker's move to the Saudi Pro League, where he faces the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr and Karim Benzema's Al Ittihad, was completed on Monday, September 2.

Young's former club The New Saints FC confirmed that the transfer has broken the Welsh record.

The young striker spent a period during the 2021/22 season at Brunton Park on loan from Aston Villa, a spell in which he failed to find the net.

However, the ex-Blue scored 22 goals in 25 games during the 2023/24 JD Cymru Premier campaign as The New Saints claimed the title without losing a single game.

As part of this run, Young scooped the Golden Boot and was named Young Player of the Season.

After the striker's Welsh record transfer to Saudia Arabia was confirmed, The New Saints FC head coach Craig Harrison wished the 23-year-old the best.

Speaking on the club's website, he said: "It’s a fantastic opportunity for Brad. I think his signing has been beneficial for both parties. He’s done fantastically well for us, and he’s now got another opportunity to try and better himself.

“Not only that, but the club has also received a really good transfer fee for him so I think it’s a win-win for everybody. Overall, I think it was the right time, the right deal for the club and the right deal for Brad.

“Everyone at the club wishes him good luck for the future and we hope that he goes and enjoys his football over in Saudi Arabia."
