Two of Carlisle United’s young loanees got their latest outings for Workington Reds on Saturday.

Jake Allan and Aran Fitzpatrick, who joined the Borough Park club on half-season work experience deals last week, kept their places in Mark Fell’s side.

They were in the XI for Reds’ trip to Matlock Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Having both started in the previous game at Blyth Spartans, Fitzpatrick and Allan played the full game on Saturday as Reds went down to a 2-1 defeat to their ten-man hosts, Dav Symington’s opener overturned by two second-half goals.

Next up for Workington and their teenage United loanees is a home clash with Bamber Bridge tomorrow night.

Dan Kirkup’s side drew 1-1 at Easington Colliery in Northern League Division One, Liam Lightfoot giving City the lead before a late home equaliser, City now seventh in the table.

In the same division, Darren Edmondson’s 11th-placed Penrith fell to a 3-2 home defeat to Newcastle Blue Star, Connor Hammell giving the Bonny Blues the lead before the visitors hit back.

A number of other ex-Carlisle United men were in the thick of the weekend action, meanwhile.

In the FA Cup second qualifying round, George Glendon got Chester’s third goal as they saw off Hebburn Town 3-0.
