The Carlisle United Supporters’ Trust say they were impressed with the attention to detail and “data-driven” approach of Mike Williamson and his backroom team.
The Trust have given an enthusiastic welcome to the new United head coach having had a role in the recruitment process.
They believe Williamson and his colleagues can develop an “exciting” brand of football which aligns with the vision throughout Brunton Park under the Piataks.
“This is the start of a new era for the club and our fans,” the Trust said in a statement.
“Anybody who has seen Mike’s brand of football in action will know it is exciting, attacking and possession-based.
“Whilst Mike and his team take the squad on this journey, they have our unwavering support.

“It will take time to see the fully finished article but the first steps have been taken and we urge Carlisle fans to help it develop and support it from the stands as we know you will.”
Matt Spooner, who represents the Trust on United’s 1921 operational board, had input into the appointment process and declared his faith in Williamson.
“I was incredibly impressed with the level of detail that Mike and Ian [Watson] demonstrated they work at.
“Their data driven approach to continual improvement on the field is modern and exciting.
“What stood out to me is their pride in coaching and developing players on the grass and giving them the knowledge to make the right decisions on the pitch.”
Spooner added that Williamson and his staff were “big believers in the community aspect of the club, which aligns perfectly with our vision.”
He added: “The change in style of play will not happen overnight, it will come through education and training.
“The club are all in and firmly behind this philosophy. That being said, everyone, including Mike, understands the importance of getting points on the board alongside the development of an attacking football style.”
The Trust also put on record their “huge thanks” to Steven Rudd, Mark Birch and Jamie Devitt for holding the reins as the interim coaching team. The trio are now set to return to their academy roles.
