Carlisle United fans gave us their views on X after the Mike Williamson era started with a 2-0 win at Swindon Town. Here's a selection of their comments.
Everything we had been crying out for. Played well, had to dig in at times towards the end but deserved the win and clean sheet. Williamson will work wonders I think in the long run (@JoshYoungFarmer)
What a massive relief that is, I'd forgotten what winning felt like to be honest and it was well put to bed against an admittedly average Swindon. (@krisfoster)
Great 3 points. A more disciplined performance. If we play with this work effort more often wins will be far more common. Of course, we had some luck, but if you work hard you make things happen. Armstrong MoM. Harry Lewis was a close second. (@BruceVander)
Resilient, pragmatic, we dug in, tbh just what was needed (@keithelliott94)
These are the same players we had last week and at times they showed the same frailties, but they also brought true grit and self-belief, playing out of their socks for the new gaffer. He can take them all to the next level as players and the club into the playoff places (@JHallHDI)
You can see the players are lacking confidence & we’re a bit indecisive at times but there are some positive signs. They’re an honest bunch who can hopefully take us up the table. Iron Mike seems to have a clear plan & philosophy as well as good attention to detail. (@JRBulman)
Underwhelming… Is what the negative section of our support said when Williamson was announced. ‘Poor away record’ the Franchise fans said. Well, a much needed win, away, after only a couple of training sessions says there are signs they will hopefully be eating their words! (@MarkWhitfield2)
After feeling drained week after week it's just a relief to see some light at the end of what's been a very long tunnel....no mean feat for the new Coach and his team after 2 days with the players. Hopefully the season starts today (@LindaNi121202)
First half was a pretty grim watch - two poor teams, but once we went ahead we looked better all round. Lewis's best game for us by far. Think he was MoM. New manager bounce gave us the good fortune we needed. Onwards & upwards now, hopefully. (@MikeEwins)
Felt like luck was with us in the first half, paired with some excellent saves from Lewis. Credit where it’s due. Lots of teams like Swindon in League Two, let’s hope we can get more results like this (@RichM996207)
Not a pretty game and playing out from the back was nail biting. Good to see us get the rub of the green also. The new gaffer has got off to good start but lots of work to be done. Onward and upwards. (@peterjo91525330)
With injuries we have got that's a hell of a result when we have got Hayden, Thomas, Guy, Robson to come back we have got some squad, well done today Mike (@GeoffRo39583097)
Good win, nice that we had a bit of luck go our way for a change (@MSef2304)
What a performance, didn't create too many chances but at the back we were fantastic, Lavelle deserves praise for coming in fairly out of the cold, and McGeouch MOTM for me, looks every bit a L1 midfielder. Armstrong scoring gave me so much joy, he needed it so badly. UTB!!! (@weresobackkkk)
The official taking ill, was a timely moment. Took the sting out of Swindon and allowed us a breather and a time to reset. (@mike_conv30651)
Much needed! Worked their backsides off for Mike, Backs to the wall at times but? Under the previous regime I feel we’d have given up and gone under. Nice to see Luke's goal he deserves it and motm with harry. Played really well, onwards upwards now (@Bruntonblue10)
