Jake Allan played his part as Workington Reds returned to winning ways on Saturday.
The teenage Carlisle United loanee made his latest start for Mark Fell’s side against Whitby Town.
And Allan and his team-mates enjoyed a 3-1 victory at Borough Park which ended a three-game losing run in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Allan was replaced by Brad Hubbold on the 50-minute mark as Reds led through veteran David Norris’s opener. Steven Rigg and Dav Symington added second-half goals before ex-United man Nathan Thomas pulled one back for Whitby.
Allan’s fellow Blues loanee, Aran Fitzpatrick, was not involved in Fell’s squad on Saturday.
It meant Allan was the only one of United’s three on-loan youngsters to play this weekend, Carlisle City not in action and Josh O’Brien sidelined with an ankle injury.
A number of ex-Blues were in the thick of the weekend action, meanwhile.
In the Premier League keeper Dean Henderson turned in an outstanding display to keep his former club Manchester United at bay in Crystal Palace’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
The Championship saw Nahki Wells convert a second-half penalty to earn a 2-1 win for Bristol City over Oxford United.
James Trafford helped Burnley to a 2-1 win over Portsmouth, for whom Elias Sorensen was an unused sub and Owen Moxon did not make the squad.
Friday’s second-tier action saw Regan Slater on target for Hull City in their 3-1 win at Stoke City.

Kyle Dempsey was among the goals as Bolton Wanderers claimed a 5-2 home win over Reading in League One.
In the same division, a Jack Diamond goal was a slim consolation for Stockport County as they were thrashed 4-1 at home by Leyton Orient.
League Two saw a late Tom Anderson goal earn Doncaster Rovers a 1-1 draw at MK Dons, who brought Joe White on as a substitute.
Jayden Harris and Ashley Nadesan were both on target as Sutton United claimed a 3-2 National League home win over Ebbsfleet United.

In National League North, Mark Ellis grabbed one of Chorley’s goals in their 3-3 draw at South Shields.
The FA Vase saw Guisborough Town’s Jason Blackburn on target in their 2-1 win over Shildon.
But Darren Edmondson’s Penrith suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Padiham in the second qualifying round.
North of the border, a Gavin Reilly goal helped Arbroath to a 2-0 win over Annan Athletic, while Peter Murphy’s Queen of the South earned a 0-0 draw at Stenhousemuir.
