Carlisle United's owners, the Piatak family, have issued a rallying cry ahead of Mike Williamson's first home game in charge.

The Blues' American owners are urging as many fans as possible to help maintain the momentum of last week's positive start.

New head coach Williamson will be in the Brunton Park dugout for the first time when United take on Grimsby Town.

It comes a week after Paul Simpson's successor made a strong start with a 2-0 win at Swindon Town in his first match at the helm.

The Piataks, via their Castle Sports Group business which owns the Blues, have now issued a statement on social media aimed at tapping into the positivity of a fresh start at United.

It said: "Calling all Cumbrian and Carlisle Blues Fans.

"This Saturday marks a special moment at Brunton Park as Mike Williamson and his new coaching staff make their home debut against Grimsby Town.

"After a fantastic start last week with a 3-point win against Swindon Town, we need all the home support we can get to keep the momentum going.

"The Fan Zones with kids' activities, food, and drinks available for everyone to enjoy will be open.

"Let’s show our home field advantage, create an incredible atmosphere, and give the team the backing they deserve!

"With your help, we can keep the momentum strong and make Brunton Park a fortress. Up the Blues & Own the North! #cufc #UTB"

The appointment of Williamson, after the departure of Simpson, formed the Piataks' first major footballing decisions of their ten-month reign.

Carlisle start the weekend third bottom of League Two but the win at Swindon has put them in closer touch with many of the sides above them.

The Cumbrians are targeting back-to-back league wins for the first time since March 2023.
