Carlisle United goalkeeping coach Glen Johnson has announced his departure from the Blues.

Johnson, who joined the club in the summer, said his time at Brunton Park has "come to an end".

The coach suggested his departure was linked to the recent appointment of new head coach Mike Williamson and his backroom team.

Johnson said there were "no hard feelings" about the circumstances of his exit.

The former Queen's Park and Gillingham coach had arrived at United in June under previous boss Paul Simpson.

He replaced Dave Timmins as United's senior keeper coach but three months later he is moving on.

Johnson, writing on social media, said: "Unfortunately, my time at Carlisle United has come to an end.

"Often when a new manager arrives it can mean new support staff, so no hard feelings as we know how the industry works at times.

"I've met some great people at the club, I wish them well.

"Really looking forward to the future and the opportunities that will present themselves."

The 38-year-old was at Brunton Park as part of the coaching staff for Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Grimsby Town.

United have not yet commented on Johnson's departure or any plans for a successor.
