Carlisle United fans gave us their views on X after the 3-2 defeat to Grimsby Town - here's a selection of their comments.

Good first half and then wouldn’t know where to start after that. The fact we failed to pressurise the young keeper was unforgivable but that’s us in a nutshell (@keithelliott94)

Second half of second half was simply shocking. Going to take a few weeks for this to 'bed in' and patience required. (@FyldeVandal)

First half we looked great, it was enjoyable to watch, I don’t know what happened second half but it’s one of the biggest drop offs I’ve seen. (@joeleigh95)

Welcome to Carlisle 'Iron Mike'. The bounce is over. Utd's 2nd half performance was a reminder of the last 12 months - ineffective, error strewn and devoid of ideas. (@BruceVander)

The recruitment & retainment hasn't been good over the last 18 mths. The players we've lost had quality & energy. Our midfield now is a concern, with limited creativity still. No leader at the back & limited depth to the squad because of injuries. Lots of work to do. Chin up (@adydent67)

Good first half shocking second half, a lot of work to be done to turn it around (@Stevenmcleancuf)

Instead of going all out to score a 3rd, we went all out not to concede a 2nd. Never going to work with a team as fragile as this one. Reeks of a team without the mentality or ability to really want to win a game. A LOT needs to change to avoid this stinking team sinking further. (@1StevieKilner)

Take the first half performance as a big positive. Scored 2 goals, 3 games in a row now too. Carlisle used to always oblige when teams hadn’t won in ages and then got the big win when the big team came to town by raising their levels. That needs to happen on Tuesday now! (@MarkWhitfield2)

First half good, second half shocking. Subs were made too late, gave them the win. (@DavidJMitch)

All well and good playing from the back if your players can play it from the back. Lewis with 2 great saves. Too slow and deliberate. 1st half looked to have an idea, 2nd half none whatsoever. Then 2 defensive subs when you need a goal. Tough one to take that one. (@FeelingHoly)

Performance of two halves, first half impressive second half non existent. Should have had two penalties, but their first goal was a straight ball through the middle of the defence, second came from giving the ball away easily on the half way line, third not marking a short corner (@andrewhoddie)

Embarrassing in the second half. School boy levels of defending on their 3rd goal. It’s going to be a long season. (@Nick_Brown86)

Chalk and cheese, great in the first half, heads didn't drop after it went 1-1, felt like we never came out for the 2nd half. (@skythelimit1970)

Unacceptable. We gave them the game. First half ok, second half total switch off. Tuesday is a must win game. (@carlisle9125)

Far more enjoyable watch in the 1st half, didn’t know how to defend a lead in the 2nd….slowly turned into the team of the last 12 months but have confidence that Williamson will turn it around (@paulmason2000)

Strong first half, awful second. Three points thrown away. We have to learn to see out games. A lot of these players need to step up. Defensively shocking again! We need to start getting points on the board but miss injured players. (@fish_blues)

A dose of realism after the somewhat fortunate win last week. First half showed that there is talent in the squad. Second half was a reminder how much these players need coaching. It will take a while to wash the legacy of Simmo's dreadful home form out of them. (@MikeEwins)

First half was like watching Manchester City. Second half was like watching Carlisle United. (@SJM_Wright)

Some of the best football ive saw in years in that 1st half. Blame can not attributed to players nor coaching staff for the 2nd half collapse. Need to be fitter and simply ran out of steam. We should have targeted the keeper more - Wyke needs to step up (@bruntonblue10)

Just as well we have a former defender as our head coach as those set piece goals second half were criminal. Plenty of positives first half but the second half was a horror show in parts. (@cufc_andy17)

Excuse the cliche, but this was the perfect example of a game of 2 half’s, the first good and the 2nd very poor, the 1st half providing glimpses of what is ahead and the 2nd half reminding us of how fragile the team are, in a number of key areas, an exhausting day! (@MarkWard18)

Excellent first half. Good tempo to the passing and pressing. Won most 50/50's. Should have been at least 2 up. Awful second half... the tempo slowed right down, lost the 50/50's, the players looked knackered. We needed fresh legs from the bench far sooner, but it's threadbare. (@northumbrian_)

Bit of a setback for the boys today. Reverted to Simmo-style in the 2nd half and collapsed in the last 10 mins. It'll take a while to whip this lot into shape! (@elpnr)

Good first half. Poor second half. Worried about how many goals we concede consistently. They ran out of ideas in the second half and reverted to the previous style. Williamson's style means we will get caught out at times. That was poor defending and an inability to push forward. (@DaveDennison15)

When is this nightmare going to end, it's as if someone has set a spell on the team. Second half was so poor possibly because Grimsby realised where our weakness lay and changed tactics. In the end we beat ourselves with shocking defending. We must learn quickly, or else. (@peterjo91525330)

No leadership on the pitch. None from the bench. Wrong starting 11. Awful subs. Wrong tactics. All in all, the worst day since we lost at Northampton. Guy, Robson, Ellis, Hayden, Mellish, Breeze all need to start (@RegReagan2)

Disaster. Nothing less. (@Blencath007)
