If ever a couple of matches were played that suited the phrase ‘a game of two halves’, then Saturday and Tuesday were them!
On Saturday, the first half offered a tantalising glimpse of the sort of football new manager Mike Williamson will be looking to implement – the wing-backs were pushed up high, two strikers and a ‘10’ buzzing about and Grimsby couldn’t handle our attacks, the Blues going into half-time with a fully deserved 2-1 lead, that could easily have been three or four.
Sadly the second half performance reverted to those similar of previous weeks and a poor 45 minutes saw the visitors take the points late on.
Onto Tuesday, and a disjointed first half saw us trail at the break before a siege of the Notts County box resulted in 21 shots overall but the ball simply would not hit the back of the net and another defeat ensued.
Overall a disappointment, but the Blue Army have seen a glimpse of what the new manager envisages for his side, whilst managing to annoy in equal measures. Carlisle United that!
We’ve recently appealed for members to tick the box that says ‘share info with CUFC’ on their membership. This will enable us to provide the club with a list of members for benefits such as ticket priority and club shop discount.
Indeed, a much-requested online option for the Blues Store discount is nearly ready to go and ensuring this box is ticked will make the process far easier. Please check the weekly briefing for details on how to ensure you’ve given your permission!
The remembrance plaques have arrived and we’re just awaiting their installation. When done, we’ll let those who bought know so they can take a wander down and see them in place.
Our new shop – https://www.cust.org.uk/shop/ - is now fully functional, with payment facilities all upgraded, great to see members’ ordering items, the new ‘Peeve’ water bottle is proving especially popular and with Christmas on the horizon we’d recommend ordering sooner rather than later!
Recent winners of our ‘Boardroom Experience’ have thoroughly enjoyed their days, results excepted, and this prize will continue to run for the season. What do you do to enter we hear you ask? Simple, become a member! That’s it! All adult members are entered onto the wheel, and we draw the winners for upcoming fixtures at our monthly board meeting.

The Blue Army have some miles to cover in the next couple of weeks, with trips to Colchester and Wimbledon (international call-ups and pitch problems permitting) coming up, so enjoy the days out and here’s to hopefully picking up some more points and climbing up the table!
Up the Blues!
