Former Carlisle United goalkeeper Tomas Holy has found a new club.

The ex-Blues No1 has returned to his native Czech Republic to join third-tier club FK Baník Most-Souš.

The 32-year-old has been drafted in by head coach and former Czech international midfielder Pavel Horvath.

It ends Holy's wait for a new club since he was released by the Blues at the end of last season.

The popular former United keeper has been back in the Czech Republic since his departure from Brunton Park.

He could make his debut for his new club, which is based in the city of Most, in an away clash with Teplice B on Sunday.

"The waiting is finally over! Let's have some fun now," said Holy on Instagram as his latest move was confirmed.

FK Baník Most-Souš sit 13th in the Czech 3.Liga after eight games.

It sees Holy back in Czech football after seven years in the English game.

The 6ft 9in former Sparta Prague man joined Gillingham in 2017 then moved on to Ipswich Town two years later.

After a three-year spell at Portman Road, which included loans at Port Vale and Cambridge United, he joined Carlisle under Paul Simpson in 2022.

In his first campaign, Holy broke a club record for the most clean sheets kept by a Blues goalkeeper in a season, the big No1 achieving 20 shut-outs over the course of the season.

He also played a crucial role in United's promotion, saving Ryan Rydel's penalty at Wembley to help Carlisle to a shoot-out victory over Stockport County in 2023's memorable League Two play-off final win.

Holy, though, twice lost his place during the 2023/24 League One campaign and ended the season as third choice, behind Harry Lewis and Gabe Breeze, as Carlisle fell to relegation back to the fourth tier.

He made 73 appearances for the Cumbrians.
