Terell Thomas is set to miss Carlisle United's next league game after being called up by Saint Lucia.

The defender will join up with Stern John's squad for CONCACAF Nations League games against Saint Martin.

It will rule Thomas out of the Blues' League Two trip to AFC Wimbledon next Saturday.

Thomas is the Saint Lucia captain and is set to lead the team in their double header, with games on Friday and next Monday.

Thomas missed Saint Lucia's previous international outings against Curacao and Grenada, shortly after returning from injury for Carlisle.

But it has now been confirmed that he is set to return to Saint Lucia duty on this occasion.

The news will deprive Mike Williamson of another senior player at a time the Carlisle squad is already depleted by injuries.

Ben Barclay, who came off the bench in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Colchester United, would be an obvious candidate to come in for Thomas at Wimbledon should head coach Williamson opt for a like-for-like replacement at the back.

Thomas qualifies for Saint Lucia through his parents and has been a regular in their side since 2022.

The summer signing told the News & Star in pre-season of his pride at representing the nation.

"[To play for the country] was a great honour. And to be captain now is an even bigger honour," Thomas said.

"International football has a totally different feel to it when you play. It just seems a bit more personal, because it's for your nation."

Saint Lucia make the trip to Saint Martin on Friday before hosting the same opponents three days later.

Thomas should then be scheduled to return to availability for the Blues in their home clash with Harrogate Town on Saturday, October 19.

The 28-year-old has made eight appearances so far, following his move to Brunton Park from Charlton Athletic.
