AFC Wimbledon have confirmed that Saturday's clash with Carlisle United is definitely ON -after successful post-flood pitch repairs.

An inspection of the surface on Tuesday morning has seen the game given the go-ahead.

It follows remedial works that came after the surface - and other parts of the Cherry Red Records Stadium - were hit by flooding last month.

The south London club are expecting a full house for the visit of the Blues as they celebrate returning home for their first home game since the damage was suffered.

The club issued a statement today.

It said: "Following a pitch inspection this morning, we’re delighted to confirm that football will return to Wimbledon this weekend with our fixture versus Carlisle United given the go-ahead for Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).

"Remedial works on the playing surface are complete with a replacement section of the pitch laid on Monday, following repairs to the attenuation tank beneath the pitch.

"Club staff and contractors have worked tirelessly over the last 15 days since the flood to bring our facilities back to their former glory– in preparation for our first match here since 14 September.

"The team behind the scenes are spending the rest of the week testing all our systems and infrastructure, lifts and museum remain out of action.

"It is highly likely that all lifts will still be out of order for Saturday’s match due to damage from the flood. The lack of lifts presents us with access restrictions for those with mobility issues, so we’ll be doing our utmost to make it work for every supporter affected.

"We apologise for the inconvenience, and encourage anyone in the Cappagh (West) Stand who has access requirements to contact our DLO (dlo@afcwimbledon.ltd.uk) to discuss alternative options.

"As we continue discussions and await further reports we are actively exploring if more can be done over and above that expressly requested by the various planning agencies during planning, with a view to making additional enhancements to protect us in the future.

"We’re on track for a full house to get behind Johnnie Jackson’s squad – unbeaten on home turf so far this season – as they take on the men from Cumbria, so we recommend booking your ticket soon."
