Carlisle United boss Mike Williamson says new signing Tyler Burey has arrived with a determination to prove his worth.

The former Millwall attacker made his debut as a substitute against Harrogate Town having joined on a short-term deal.

Burey, 23, has arrived at Carlisle after a spell with Danish club Odense Boldklub.

He was a free agent after leaving the club in August and is now on United’s books until January.

Williamson said he had weighed up the free agent market closely before taking the plunge on Burey.

“He’s got pace, he can run, he can break the line, he can stretch teams – and he feels as though he's got something to prove as well,” said the Blues head coach.

“He wants to get his head down. He wants to work as hard as he possibly can and prove to everyone that he's good enough to play in the league.”

Burey came off the bench in the second half in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

He was one of two debutants, with summer signing Ethan Robson also coming on for his first Blues outing after a pre-season hamstring injury.

Williamson, on the duo, added: “Tyler has been training with us and he showed some real glimpses of quality.

“I thought he had a couple of moments [against Harrogate] where, another day, I think he does better.

“He hasn't had much game time recently, so that will come

“Ethan is someone who obviously I know really well [Robson previously played under Williamson at Mk Dons] and he looks like he's really determined and he really wants to come in and put a stamp on the team.

“I think the quality he holds, for me, is unquestionable. We've just got to keep making sure he gets stronger.”
