Anton Dudik went straight into the South Shields side for his loan debut after joining from Carlisle United.

The Ukrainian striker was named in Elliott Dickman’s XI for the National League North trip to Brackley Town.

But Dudik and his team-mates fell to a 1-0 defeat. The Blues man played the first hour before being substituted.

The 19-year-old was involved in a couple of first-half attacks which almost created chances for team-mates.

But it proved a losing start to his month’s loan. Dickman said: “Anton arrived on Friday, he’s spent more time on the bus than the training ground with us [so far].

“It will take him a little while to get used to some of the things we want, but he did show some good quality, some good touches, he made some good runs.

“I thought he was terrific. He looked a bit tired as the second half progressed but [he did] fine.”

Next for Dudik and South Shields is a trip to Warrington Town next weekend.

Carlisle’s three teenage loanees at Workington Reds all featured in their 3-2 FA Trophy first round defeat to Bamber Bridge.
