Carlisle United fans watched the team train today - and there was a new face on show.

The Blues have not commented on the identity of the player who joined in the full session with Mike Williamson's squad.

But it is understood to be the former Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Kadeem Harris.

He was involved in the session which was open to supporters to watch as part of United's 'festival of football' at Brunton Park this morning.

Ex-Championship man Harris, 31, is a free agent following a spell in Turkish football.

The London-born player was most recently with Sanliurfaspor but left the club in the summer after a half-season spell.

Previously he was with fellow Turkish clubs Bandirmaspor and Samsunspor after a stint with Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv.

Harris's career took him overseas in 2021, after the end of a two-year spell with Sheffield Wednesday.

He made 88 appearances for the Hillsborough club from 2019 to 2021.

Harris, who has often also played at wing-back, started at Wycombe Wanderers before moving to Cardiff in 2012, going on to play 79 times for the Welsh club.

He also had loan spells at Brentford and Barnsley during his time with Cardiff.

It is understood Harris has been training with United for some time. It remains to be seen whether Williamson will look to add him to his squad at Brunton Park.

The open training session saw Daniel Adu-Adjei fully involved, after his return from parent club AFC Bournemouth following his recovery from a knee injury.

Ben Williams and Archie Davies did some light training as they continue their bid to return from injury, while Dylan McGeouch was also on the training pitch, but not involved in the main session.

Absent from the session were the still-sidelined pair of Jordan Jones and Georgie Kelly.

Supporters stood on the banks overlooking the main training pitch to watch the session, before players and Williamson signed autographs and posed for photos with fans.

As the session got under way, meanwhile, a banner overlooking the training pitch was removed by a steward. It appeared to be daubed with the words: 'We turn up for you - you need to turn up for us."

The 'festival of football' also saw activities for young fans alongside the training pitch and in United's fan zone, while supporters were also invited to tour the new hospitality and executive facilities in the Andrew Jenkins Stand.

Fans were also allowed to ride on United's team coach into Carlisle for further activities at Tullie.
