A date has been confirmed for Carlisle United's clash with Carlisle City in the Fred Conway Cumberland Cup.

The second round tie will be played on Tuesday, November 19.

Although United are the home side in the tie, it will be played at City's Gillford Park ground.

United progressed to the second round with a victory over Workington Juniors last month.

City, meanwhile, booked their second round place by defeating Cockermouth.

The tie will pit City boss Dan Kirkup against his former club, while a number of City players were also previously on United's books, such as Keighran Kerr, Keelan Leslie, Kieron Olsen, Jay Kelly, Liam Lightfoot and Scott Simons, while former Blues coach Jake Simpson is also on City's books.

United will be expected to field a young side in the second round tie.

The clubs previously met in last season's first round when the professional outfit went through on penalties.

Previously, City knocked United out in 2021/22's semi-finals en route to winning the cup.

United last won the county senior cup in 2019, having lost last season's final to Workington Reds.

Kick-off on November 19 is 7.30pm.

Other ties this week have seen Penrith advance to the third round with a 4-0 win over Windscale.

On Saturday, Maryport Athletic take on Cleator Moor Celtic, Aspatria host Bransty Rangers, Wetheriggs United face Langwathby United and Fellside United are against Keswick.

Holders Workington Reds take on Whitehaven next Tuesday.
