A young West Cumbrian boxer has represented the North-West of England in a regional bout.
Marshall Miller, fighting out of Workington Amateur Boxing Club, represented the North-West in Bolton on Saturday, November 2 in a regional bout against a representative from the Midlands.
Marshall's opponent was Renea Cummings from Bulkington Boxing Club in Bedworth, with the pair battling for three 'very entertaining' rounds in Bolton.
However, it was Marshall who claimed victory for the North West thanks to her front-foot boxing over the three-round contest.
This victory for the young boxer from Workington also came after she had represented the North West Women's Warriors alongside fellow local boxer Kayla Dryden at the Home Counties Box Cup.
Speaking after Marshall's latest victory, Malcolm McCoy speaking on behalf of Workington ABC said: "Marshall boxed well using her backhand from the start to gain the respect of her opponent in a close first round.
"She settled into the bout and worked behind her jab to land more backhands, pushing forward at every opportunity she got, and was rewarded with the deserved victory for the North West after three very entertaining rounds.
"Marshall was well supported at the event by her mum, dad, and sisters. Also accompanying Marshall was Workington ABC's head coach Joe Dryden, Chris Govans, and clubmate Kayla Dryden."
