Mike Williamson has said that more additions to the Carlisle United staff are likely.

The head coach said discussions are ongoing about the make-up of the Blues both on and off the pitch.

Those talks are now heavily involving new sporting director Rob Clarkson who is assessing the way forward at Brunton Park.

While he and Williamson and their staff have a major focus on the January transfer window, the Blues boss also said some off-field changes may also be on the cards.

He said the idea is in line with the vision of the club owners, the Piatak family, to enhance United.

“That’s going to take man hours, it's going to take more support in terms of bringing people in, in different areas to improve,” said Williamson.

“And it’s about making sure that we do it the right way, rather than just increasing numbers and increasing the size of departments.

“It's about making sure that we really utilise the qualities and the skills we've got here and then bring in the relevant support.

“If we're bringing in staff and players, they've got to really add value and add quality.”

Williamson did not spell out which departments were likely to see new faces in terms of staff.

But he said such additions were inevitable as United look to grow.

“I wouldn't specify where and when, but the owners have got a vision of the football club to get to a certain level, and that takes time, and it takes a lot of effort and energy and quality.

“So, I would think for sure that there's going to be additions made, but again, it's just got to be to the right areas, because the football club has got some very loyal [people] and a lot of quality here, so we've got to make sure that it supplements and supports, and that's the main thing.”
