Carlisle United boss Mike Williamson admits every point is “huge” in the Blues’ predicament as they head to Bromley.
United’s first league meeting with the Ravens (Hayes Lane, 3pm) gives them the opportunity to escape the League Two relegation zone.
Second-bottom Carlisle, after back-to-back wins in league and cup, are hoping to build on their recent improvement against Andy Woodman’s EFL new boys today.
They could also move to within a point of their 19th-placed hosts with the game in south east London another important one in the Blues’ campaign.
“I feel it now more than ever, but I think every game, every point, is going to be huge,” said Williamson.
“We want to get out of the position we're in, and especially the next handful of games is going to be huge.
“We can only focus on our preparation and the detail. We can't focus on how big the occasion is going to be.”
Carlisle will be backed by a sell-out 515 travelling support at Bromley, where Williamson is without the suspended Harrison Neal and defender Terell Thomas, who is on international duty with Saint Lucia.
Last weekend saw a terrific sell-out away-day atmosphere at the 1-0 win over Salford City and a third away game in eight days sees head coach Williamson seeking to strengthen the bond between fans and team.
“It’s phenomenal,” he said of the support.
“Last weekend was an incredible experience. I wanted the boys to go over there and soak it all in and enjoy it – and the fans obviously enjoyed it.
“That's what we've got to build off and make sure that we will hear them as much as we did last Saturday against Bromley.
“We've got to make sure we're fighting on the pitch and build that relationship, and make sure we get every ounce of energy out of it.”
Williamson says the resilience United have shown in recent performances must again be their foundation against a Bromley side that could include former Blues duo Byron Webster and Olufela Olomola.
“That’s we've got to try and build off,” he said. “In our possession, if we make mistakes, we'll get punished, so we've just got to make sure that we build and we control it the best we can, but ultimately we're pegging their back line back and getting them to run back.
“It's something that no back line wants to do, so we've got to make sure that we're on that front foot and then any transitions we're picking up, we make the most of that.”
Carlisle will move out of the bottom two today if they win and either Swindon Town or Colchester United fail to win against Accrington Stanley and Bradford City respectively.
United are one point adrift in the bottom two, but a draw is unlikely to be enough to climb the table today because of their inferior goal difference.
