Ben Barclay is the latest Carlisle United player to face suspension.

The defender will miss the Blues' next game against Doncaster Rovers after receiving his fifth booking of the campaign.

Barclay was yellow-carded in the 1-1 draw at Bromley for pulling back former United man Olufela Olomola in added time.

That followed cautions in previous games against Barrow, Bradford City, Grimsby Town and AFC Wimbledon.

In the EFL a player must serve a one-match ban if he reaches five bookings before the 20-game mark. The Bromley clash was United's 16th of the 2024/25 League Two season.

Barclay, 28, is the third Blues player to be suspended in recent weeks, following Ethan Robson and Harrison Neal.

United, at least, should have defenders back for the Doncaster clash next Saturday in Barclay's absence.

Terell Thomas will be back from Saint Lucia international duty while the Blues will also hope Aaron Hayden is ready to return, after missing the Bromley draw with illness.

Midfielder Neal will also return after serving a one-game ban on Saturday.

Two other players are walking a suspension tightrope at Brunton Park, with Jon Mellish now on four bookings after being cautioned at Bromley.

He joins midfielder Josh Vela on four yellow cards. The duo must avoid being booked in games against Doncaster, Crewe Alexandra and Newport County in order to avoid suspension.
