Mike Williamson says it is no secret that he wants Kadeem Harris to stay at Carlisle United beyond January.
The recent signing has made an impact in a short space of time having joined the Blues earlier this month.
Harris’s initial performances in a United shirt have led fans to call for him to be tied to a deal for the rest of the season at least.
The 31-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City man is currently on a deal until January and Williamson is keen for that to be extended.
“The impact he's made has been brilliant, and I still think there's more to come, so that's exciting,” said Williamson.
“He is somebody who we want at the football club, there ain't no bones about that.”
Williamson, though, said the immediate focus was heavily on preparations for the visit of Doncaster Rovers this weekend rather than being sidetracked by other talks.
“We’ve got a very tough test on Saturday, so our focus is on making sure that our training is detailed, we're making sure there's no risk of any further injuries, and we just keep building on that solid base that we've had in the last couple of weeks,” added the United head coach.
Harris has made three appearances since linking up with the Cumbrians as a free agent.
His first league start came in last Saturday’s 1-1 League Two draw at Bromley, after bright showings as a substitute against Salford City and from the start against Morecambe in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The attacking midfielder, who previously played in Turkey, is in line for his home debut this weekend when the Blues take on third-placed Donny.
