Mike Williamson says Carlisle United’s work in preparation for the January transfer window is growing more “focused”.
But the Blues head coach has not been drawn on one particular player rumour doing the rounds.
Some reports in Ireland have linked United with the Derry City midfielder Will Patching.
Williamson, though, preferred to discuss the pre-January work at Brunton Park in general rather than discuss individual names.
The United boss is working closely with new sporting director Rob Clarkson to make plans for the mid-season window.
January is likely to be key in the Blues’ efforts to strengthen their squad for the battle to improve their position in League Two.
Asked about January plans and the Patching rumour, Williamson said: “Rob has come in and the meetings we've been involved in have been brilliant, they really have.
“We've got lists and, while we always say that recruitment is all year round, the closer we get to the window the more focused [it becomes].
“There will be many different links and rumours.

“For us we're just focused on our preparation, because it's about the points return, and making sure our performances consistently keep building.
“But yes – the work behind the scenes is going on.”
Patching, 26, has been linked with a move away from Derry at the end of his contract following the end of the League of Ireland campaign.
The Stockport-born player came through the academy ranks at Manchester City, his latter years there coinciding with Clarkson’s time as an analyst in City’s youth set-up.
Former England Under-18 international Patching went on to play for Notts County before moving to Ireland with Dundalk and then Derry.
