It was a successful weekend for Carlisle United’s young loanees as they recorded victories with their respective clubs – with one of them on the scoresheet.
Jake Allan got off the mark for Workington Reds as he claimed their second goal in a welcome 3-1 away win over Mickleover.
And it was also a winning Saturday for Anton Dudik, who was involved in South Shields’ 5-1 home thrashing of Farsley Celtic.
Allan and Sam Hetherington were both in Mark Fell’s Workington starting line-up for their trip to Mickleover in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Hetherington came close to scoring when he hit the crossbar in the first half amid a 57-minute outing.
And fellow United teenager Allan, who played the full game, was on hand to bundle a Josh Galloway corner over the line to put Reds 2-1 up with 13 game to play.
It was a key moment in the clash in Derbyshire, with in-form Steven Rigg converting penalties in either half to put Reds on course for the points and take his tally to 14 goals for the campaign.
Workington now sit 14th in NPL Premier, and host Basford United tomorrow night, with a third United loanee, Aran Fitzpatrick, out injured.
In National League North, Dudik was named as a substitute for South Shields as the Mariners swept to victory.
The Ukrainian forward came off the bench at half-time with Elliott Dickman’s side already 4-0 ahead.
The United man almost got on the end of a cross in the first minute of the second half, before setting up team-mate Joe Richards for a near miss late on.
Shields’ win, which included a goal from ex-Carlisle loanee Martin Smith, took them 12th in the table, Dudik’s initial month spell now up.
A number of other ex-United men were in the thick of the weekend action, meanwhile.
In the Premier League, Jarrad Branthwaite returned from injury to start for Everton in their 0-0 draw with ten-man Brentford.
