Mike Williamson says Carlisle United are having “ongoing” conversations over the futures of Tyler Burey and Kadeem Harris.
And the head coach stressed that the Blues will be proactive on the matter and not leave things until January.
Both players are on short-term deals that run until the first month of 2025.
The duo have made a positive impact in their brief time at Brunton Park so far.
And Williamson said the part both have played in United’s recent improvement underlines the need to have proactive talks over their immediate futures.
Asked when the situations with both players might be brought to a head, Williamson said: “I can't really give too much [away] in terms of the actual conversations, but it's all on an individual case basis.
“They are starting and they are a big part of our team at the minute, and the consistency that we’re building.
“It’s something that we're having conversations [about], and they are ongoing.
“It's not a case of waiting until January to get sorted – it's a case of making sure that we're in talks now.”
Former Millwall man Burey has made seven appearances since joining as a free agent in October.
The 23-year-old has had a run of starts in the right wing-back position.
Experienced forward Harris, meanwhile, has made four outings since signing for the Blues earlier this month.
Both are in the mix for further outings when Carlisle take on third-placed Crewe Alexandra at Brunton Park this weekend.
