Crewe Alexandra No2 Ryan Dicker has described Carlisle United as a “massive club” who won’t go down this season.

The assistant boss of Saturday’s opponents has talked up the Blues ahead of the 24th-v-3rd clash.

Dicker has warned against reading into the current league table as Crewe aim to continue their eight-game unbeaten league run.

And he feels Mike Williamson and his side have enough quality to climb the table from their current lowly position.

“I don’t think you can read too much into the league table if I’m being honest – at this stage of the season things can change quickly,” Dicker said in a club interview.

“If you look a month ago, Accrington were around the bottom two and they’ve gone on a terrific run and are mid-table now.

“I think it’s the same with Carlisle – they’ve got good players, they’ve got a good manager that plays in a good way.

“Of late their results have picked up, and they had a brilliant draw against Doncaster, same again at Bromley, they had a good win at Salford not so long ago.

“Their performances and results are starting to turn and they’re quite capable of going on a decent run and shooting themselves up the table.

“They’re a massive club [at this level], with a good following, a really good fanbase.

“We expect them to pick up. They won’t be in the bottom two come the end of the season.

“So we don’t look too much into where teams are at the moment – it’s about focusing on us and doing what we can to get three points.”

Crewe are without Kane Hemmings and Conor Thomas this weekend but Dicker, Lee Bell’s No2, said striker Omar Bogle is fit despite going off hurt in Monday’s 1-1 draw at Port Vale.
