Carlisle United fans gave us their verdicts on X after the 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra - here is a selection of their comments.

A turgid affair. Crewe, third in the table Lge 2, good grief. If Carlisle had a striker, we should have snatched a victory. There were a few players off their game today, and a few need to be moved on. If we can find a goalscorer, we should be ok. (@BruceVander)

On balance a good point, but I did feel we could have stepped up a gear and we could have put the game out of sight, unfortunately that wasn’t the case and a very poor challenge cost us the win. (@MarkWard18)

Take a point before the game, be nice to have a decent selection of subs to come on. Another 2 points down the drain cause Kelly was on his [backside]. We do look so much better. (@Chris_CA2)

Another much improved performance, but we continue to lack much goal threat. You can see Williamson's influence working now, with some really good spells of passing. Lost our momentum in the second half when absence of Mellish really showed. (@MikeEwins)

Two points against teams in promotion race is decent but how much better a win would feel. The style of football is intermittently there but too many stray passes and loose touches still. Strong defensive effort again and positive impact from the subs. (@tim_martland)

A fair result. We never really did enough to win it and seemed to lack a bit of conviction to get a second which probably reflects our current home form. We are going the right way but it isn't going to happen overnight. Lavelle outstanding. (@BenJoseph0157)

We are not looking like scoring more than 1 goal which is concerning me. We are certainly harder to beat but are we looking like beating someone? Shame we gave that pen away though as Crewe didn’t look like scoring from open play. (@DJGale1983)

Well it's a disappointment at the end of the day... am not in the dissenters camp, given what we've been seeing. If only a second goal had come because Crewe were not that dangerous and it was a pretty even game. Lavelle and Sadi outstanding. Burey and Adu-Adjei quiet today #coyb (@LindaNi121202)

Ugly but battling display, should have been 3 points but for a ridiculous tackle. (@cufccraig1983)

Would have won that with a striker like charlie wyke I feel (@dougrmurphy)

Two poor sides in reality, not a huge gulf between us and them ,but we need to start scoring !!! (@PaulMar21281685)

Frustrating, worst performance since Cheltenham, but held a top 3 side. Stupid challenge gives the ref a choice for the pen. We offer no goal threat whatsoever. Lavelle immense again. (@FeelingHoly)

Improving all the time Bit anxious in 2nd half and stayed deep. Great to see jones back. Kelly didn’t have to make that challenge. Onwards and upwards. (@AndyMortonPark)

Would have taken a point at start of today but that feels like a defeat. Another stupid mistake cost us 3 points, what was Kelly thinking, his only contribution in a 10 min cameo . No idea how we r going to get enough wins to stay up, need a Jan miracle (@Norther42188430)

Players looked absolutely gutted at the end. Kelly looked close to tears. I take comfort from the fact that they clearly, desperately, want to start winning games. (@JRBulman)

Draws will not save us from the drop, we need to be winning some games before Xmas, otherwise it will be futile. Lacking presence up front, defensively better but onwards and hopefully upwards. (@peterjo91525330)

We look like we’ve turned a corner, and hopefully we can win our next three home games. 🤞🥴 (@mike_conve30651)

A better side would’ve buried us. Playing out from the back (before losing possession 3 passes later) is suicidal. They couldn’t go long, as they had no presence up front. There was a 10 minute spell in the 2nd half where they played well…bar that, it was very poor!👎🏼 (@ScottBeeby1)

Certainly worth a point … silly challenge by Kelly but that’s football… no danger of being relegated imo (@simmosbluearmy)
