Mike Williamson has elaborated on the roles where he feels Jordan Jones can make the biggest impact at Carlisle United.
The former Rangers and Sunderland man came off the bench for his first outing in nearly two months on Saturday.
Jones’ second-half cameo came in the 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra.
While Williamson believes the skilful 30-year-old can benefit the Blues in different ways, there are certain positions where he feels he can “predominantly” shine.
“He's somebody, similar to Kadeem Harris, where you want them on pitch, because you can tell him to do certain things but because he's so intelligent he'll take up positions.
“So whether that's the four, the eight, the wing back, the nine…they're very good players and they want to get on the ball,” said Williamson.
“You can see that by their actions and their habits.
“So for me it's about getting him on the pitch and for as long as possible without putting him at risk.
“Eight and wing-back is predominantly [where we see him] – we want him up in the top end of the pitch and doing what he did when he came on.”
Jones had been out since early October with a calf injury.
He made his comeback as part of a triple substitution in the 68th minute on Saturday.
The August signing will now look to build on his comeback appearance as Carlisle prepare for next weekend’s trip to Newport County.
Harrison Biggins could also return to the squad for the game in south Wales provided he comes through training unscathed this week, following his own calf problem.
And Williamson will have Jon Mellish back available after the defender served a one-match suspension on Saturday.
