In the Under-16 cup, it was Hensingham who ran out 26-20 winners to lift the trophy after a tight game with town rivals Kells.
In the end, it was tries from Ryley Burr, Jon Carrick, Daniel McGarry, Jacob Johnson and Aaron Turnbull that made the difference, alongside two goals from Jack Kellet and one from the boot of Adam Williamson.
It was even closer in the Under-14 final as Seaton took on Wath Brow before emerging winners by the narrowest of margins, 26-24.
The two sides played out a thrilling game in the League Cup final with the result in doubt until the final seconds of the game when league and county cup winners Seaton stole the trophy from Wath Brow’s grasp with the final play of the game.
Brow were up for the game and looked dangerous from the start, scoring in the corner in the opening set of the game.
This kick-started Seaton into action and Ciaran Walker soon scored a fine individual try, jinking through close to the posts. Scott Williamson knocked over the conversion before injury curtailed his game.
The game went from end to end with Brow continuing to dominate, eventually retaking the lead with a try up the left flank, the winger outpacing Seaton’s defence for a great individual try which was converted to make it 12-6.
Seaton hit back before the break with Walker making a superb break up the middle before finding fellow half-back Ben Postlethwaite in support for a magnificent try.
Postlethwaite knocked over the conversion to make it 12-12 at the break.
Seaton came out more determined in the second half and took the lead with a try from close range, Walker’s second of the game to make it 16-12.
Back came the Hornets with another two scores to deservedly retake the lead.
Seaton were having to dig deep with their big forwards beginning to make inroads. Eventually second row, James Dowling powered his way through for a try with Walker converting to put Seaton back in front.
Wath Brow wouldn’t give in and hit back with another score to go 24-22 ahead with just minutes left.
With 60 seconds left on the clock and Brow in possession, the game looked lost before a knock on handed Seaton possession close to the Brow line.
Seaton couldn’t find a way through before the ball was handed to Jay Roach on the last play who bulldozed his way through the tacklers before managing to keep the ball alive.
The ball was passed along the line before ending up in the hands of Ciaran Poultney who crashed his way over for the winning try sparking wild celebrations.
The conversion was missed but it didn’t matter as the referee’s whistle signalled the end of the game.
Brow try scorers were Colton Chisholm, Jay Todd and Harry Wilson. Jamie Pickering and Morgan Ackerly added a goal apiece with Owen Thompson kicking three.
Seaton captain Ciaran Walker lifted their third trophy of the season and Ciaran Poultney grabbed the man-of-the-match award, capping a fine display.
